We are a family of 6, living in the countryside outside of the Norwegian city of Tønsberg. Our two boys, Fredrik and Knut Olav, are currently 3 and 5 years old and are enrolled in a kindergarten 300 meters from our house. We also have two sweet gils who are twins, they are 8 months old. Mommy (Janne) works in an accounting firm situated in Tønsberg, and Daddy (Peter) works for a Swedish software company. Peter normally works out of his home office, but also travels a bit.
Fredrik and Knut Olav are fast becoming best friends despite their age difference and enjoy playing with each other more and more. Their favorite activities at the moment are playing outside in the garden, building Lego, playing with cars and trains, and role play. Playing hide and seek with daddy, and helping mommy in the kitchen are also favorites.
Our house is beautifully situated in the countryside on an old farm. As the fields and forests that belonged to the farm was sold by the previous owner, we now rent the farm buildings as studios for music bands. The boys have the pleasure of enjoying a large garden and have plenty of space for outdoor activities. Although we live on the countryside, there is only a 4-minute walk to the nearest bus stop where, on 15-minute intervals, one can catch a bus for the 10-minute ride to the city center of Tønsberg. We also live close (5-minute drive) to the beautiful Norwegian coast where we enjoy bathing, sailing, and playing, especially in the summertime.
As a family we enjoy spending time outside and being in nature. We own a summerhouse on the south coast of Norway (Kragerø) where we normally spend our summer vacation and occasional weekends in the warm part of the year. We also have access to a vacation home in the mountains (Rjukan) where we go skiing (downhill and x-country) in the winter. We'd love for the au-pair to join us for these excursions and are happy to teach activities on both water and on snow. Morning routines with the two older kids (breakfast, clothing, cleaning). Delivery to kindergarden. Pickup from kindergarden. Putting The older kids to bed (on some days). Accompanying kids to afternoon activities 2 times a week, currently swimming and gymnastics.
We primarily plan for the au-pair to help out with daily routines for the two older children, but may accationaly ask for help with nursing the babies.
Preparing dinner. Help out with cleaning and laundery. We do not expect the au-pair to do all cleaning and laundery, but to help out.
